MUSIC ABC's is a music program designed to teach the language of music through early childhood music classes for ages 0 - 6, which are designed to nurture children’s music potential and help prepare them for formal instruction in school. Teachers guide students through creative musical interaction as they sing, chant, move, dance, improvise, and explore music instruments. Children absorb songs and chants in different tonalities and meters and learn to imitate musical sounds and assimilate the language of music.
Music ABC’s also provides small group guitar and group piano for ages 5 - 7 as well as voice lessons for ages 8-12. The program is based on the music learning theory developed by Dr. Edwin Gordon, one of the leading music educators and researchers in the United States. For more information on this theory go to the Gordon Institute for Music Learning web site at www.giml.org.
ART ABC's is based upon the Paintpourri Program (Ardmore, PA) which was designed by an art therapist to offer the best possible creative art experiences to children. All classes are small. The atmosphere is warm, supportive, and non-competitive. At Art ABC’s, children gain confidence to express their unique ideas and feelings through art. Classes for 2 ¼ through 7 year olds focus on expressive art activities. Each class includes progressively more challenging materials and art concepts as the young artists grow in experience, confidence and skill. At Art ABC’s, students quickly discover the joy and excitement of drawing, painting, and sculpting in a setting where their images are understood and appreciated and their creative thoughts are encouraged.
